SCORPIUS(SCOR-pee-us)
English Name:the scorpion
Size:medium, 33rd largest
When to Look:visible in the late evening sky from June through July
Notes:A well-known constellation and one of the few that actually looks like its namesake. Its bright star, Antares, shines red and is located in the anatomically correct location for the scorpion's heart. Easy to locate and trace, it is only above the horizon for a few hours and can often be masked by ground level haze or obstructions. Even under ideal conditions it may be partially hidden above 40 degrees north latitude.
